Sad Day

Monday morning, I learned that my editor, Kate Duffy from Kensington Books passed away. Although I've only met Kate once, I've spoken with her many times since Kensington acquired my manuscript, Now Until Forever.

She had a major impact on my writing career. During my three-year association with Ms. Duffy, she purchased four manuscripts, gave me guidance and tips on what she believed would sell, and retitled all of my manuscripts. Generally, Kate was the first person to tell me whether she understood the theme I was trying to convey in my stories. Although we disagreed on titles, I learned a great deal from working with her and will miss her direct, but knowledgeable style.

So, I dedicate this blog entry to Kate Duffy, Editorial Director at Kensington Books. You will be missed.

If you have comments, don't hesitate to write.

Please don't be a stranger.

My condolences to her family and to all the lives she's touched. There are so many influences in our lives as writers, yet there are some people whose touch shape our writing, our careers and our lives so greatly. I can tell she was one of those persons for you.

May God bless and comfort you in this sad time of grief.

The romance world lost a giant, Karen. I never worked with her, but had the chance to meet her a number of times at different conferences. I just learned that she bought my favorite historical novel of all time, Judith McNaught's Whitney, My Love.

So sorry for your loss, Karen. Editors are indeed integral to our lives as authors. They are the ones who believe in our stories and our styles and guide us along the path to actual publication. You are fortunate to have had Kate in your corner.

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I did not have the pleasure to meet Kate Duffy, but I heard great things about her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and colleagues. Life is indeed short. Let's make it count, and stop to say, I Love You!

As writers there are people whom we seldom or never meet yet who have such a great influence on our lives - our editors, agents, and other writers. It is indeed a sad day when one of them passes away.
